Last Hope Sound Lab makes long mixes of generated music and publishes them on YouTube. This page explains what our website does with your information (very little) and what our own software tools do with YouTube data.
This website
- It sets no cookies, runs no analytics or tracking, shows no ads and loads nothing from other services. Every file it uses is served from this site.
- Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (such as IP addresses and the pages requested) for security and reliability, under its own privacy policy. We do not use them to identify visitors.
Our YouTube tools
We run a small set of private software tools (the "Sound Lab pipeline") that use the YouTube API Services to publish to and learn from our own YouTube channel, Last Hope Sound Lab. They are not a public app: no one else signs in to them, and they act only on our channel. By watching or commenting on our videos you are also subject to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google handles your data under the Google Privacy Policy.
With the permission we gave them for our own channel, the tools:
- publish: upload our videos and Shorts, set their thumbnails, add them to our playlists and post a comment with the tracklist on our own videos;
- read our channel's numbers: views, likes, comment counts, watch time, how long people watch (the audience retention curve) and subscribers gained, per video;
- read the public comments on our videos, to learn which tracks and pictures work for listeners.
What we keep and how:
- The numbers above are stored in our private files to compare episodes over time.
- Comment text is stored with the commenter reduced to a short one-way code of their YouTube channel ID, never their name, so we can see whether a comment comes from someone who commented before without knowing who they are. Comment text is deleted from our files within 30 days of being fetched, so a comment deleted on YouTube is gone from our files within 30 days at the latest. Comments never enter our code repository.
- Once a week, the numbers and the comments (with the coded commenter IDs, never names) are sent to Anthropic's API, which runs the AI model that reads them and drafts suggestions for us. Anthropic processes this data on our behalf under its commercial terms. A person reads every suggestion; nothing changes automatically.
- We never sell, rent or publish this data, never use it for advertising, and share it with no one else.
Your choices
- To remove a comment from our files, delete it on YouTube, or write to us and we will delete it.
- Anyone who has granted an app access to a Google account can revoke it at any time in the Google security settings. Only our own channel has granted access to our tools.
